A Munich–Oxford workshop on the normative foundations of AI ethics.

Normative Ethics and Artificial Intelligence is a one-day workshop bringing together philosophers from LMU Munich and the University of Oxford to examine the normative foundations of AI ethics.

It is the third edition of an annual Munich–Oxford collaboration, co-organised by the Munich Center for Machine Learning at LMU Munich and the Uehiro Oxford Institute.

The workshop follows a pre-read format. Each speaker circulates a draft paper to participants roughly two weeks in advance. During the session, the author gives a brief framing (5–10 minutes), a dedicated commentator delivers a critical response (10–15 minutes), and the remaining time is devoted to structured discussion.

The format privileges depth over breadth and turns the workshop into a genuine collaborative engagement with work-in-progress.

Four speakers, from Munich and Oxford.
